About Us
 At Nelson South Kindergarten we are passionate about quality early childhood education.
We believe that an important foundation for learning is for children to know that they are valued as individuals, their contributions are important and that they feel a strong sense of belonging here. This is our initial focus for our new children and a continuing focus throughout a child’s time with us.
We are fortunate here to be part of a vibrant multicultural community, with children and their families attending from around the world as well as Aotearoa/New Zealand. The teaching team actively respects and incorporates the knowledge and experiences that all children bring to life at our Kindergarten and acknowledge the strong family/whanau contribution. An emphasis on biculturalism is inherent during sessions.
Our programme is enriched through our ability to notice and recognise children’s emerging ideas and interests, and to extend these through the provision of resources to excite, prompt, promote, provoke, and extend children’s ideas, skills, knowledge, and reasoning.

FEES
Parents who do not attest their 20 hours ECE to the kindergarten, pay a fee of $3.84 per enrolled hour.
FAMILY CONTRIBUTIONS
All parents are asked for a Family Contribution of 30c per enrolled hour to cover additional costs not covered by the Ministry of Education funding. Parents can claim this as a donation for tax purposes.
