About Us

Hira Rural Kindergarten is situated in a beautiful rural setting in Wakapuaka, just 12 km north of Nelson.
 
It is a unique facility, as the building is community owned which encourages a community focus.  The rural aspect and strong links with the natural environment are reflected and enriched in the daily programme.

The Kindergarten is well-resourced and enjoys a high level of parental involvement. We have strong links with the local schools and have established a carefully planned kindergarten to school transition programme.

FEES
Parents who do not attest their 20 hours ECE to the kindergarten, pay a fee of $3.84 per enrolled hour.
FAMILY CONTRIBUTIONS
All parents are asked for a Family Contribution of 30c per enrolled hour to cover additional costs not covered by the Ministry of Education funding. Parents can claim this as a donation for tax purposes.
