Golden Bay Kindergarten/Te Whare Matauranga o nga mokopuna mo apopo Mohua opened on 5 May 2008.
 
The kindergarten is the result of five years of lobbying, committment and support from the Golden Bay community.  The kindergarten is located in the Takaka Primary School grounds.  The teaching team at the kindergarten continues to work to establish positive links with the local primary schools to facilitate an easy transition to school for kindergaren children. 

 

The kindergarten has a strong focus on sustainability, art and literacy. An extensive children's vegetable garden and compost area have been established along with large flower and edible gardens.  Members of the local community have planted a garden in the kindergarten grounds with plants that are native to Golden Bay.

 

The teaching team is committed to promoting the contributions of both children and family/whanau within the kindergarten and wider communities.  These are highly valued and respected.  The teachers have successfully built a strong partnership with the local iwi.
